Massacre in Moscow
Seasons change, and in March, Mafia Wars will change in an unprecedented way.
Q: Moscow is closing, why?
A: We have some major things coming up in March, and part of the storyline involves the closing down of Moscow. 'The Neo-Imperium, fresh from their success in controlling the Moscow Underworld, turns its sights to controlling the Russian Underworld. They have commisioned a team of hitmen to assassinate the leads of the Moscow Mafia in a show of force. You are one of the leaders that is on the hitlist, and you need to track down these hired guns and get to them before you become the next fatality.'
Q: What do you mean closing?
A: Moscow will no longer be accessible. It will be grayed out on the travel menu and any attempts to get to Moscow will be stopped with a popup. You will not be able to vault or revault Moscow collections. You will not be able to collect from Moscow properties or access the Moscow bank. You will not be able to complete Moscow achievements. You will not be able to fight or rob in Moscow.
Q: When will this happen?
A: Moscow will be closing on March 10th.
Q: Is this permanent?
A: Moscow will be closed for the foreseeable future.
Q: What if I have finished Moscow already?
A: In order to complete Massacre in Moscow mission, you will need to loot Snow Resist Layers. This will only drop in jobs and fights (but not robs) in Moscow. Completing the mission will award you with the Special Mastery Item, a Snow Cat (144 Att / 72 Def).
Q: What if I haven't finished Moscow already?
A: In addition to the Snow Resist Layers, you will receive 5x Mastery on unmastered jobs. Mastered jobs reward you with a skill point.
In addition, there are Mastery Items for mastering each tier (Barsuk SUV, Karpov, Ex-KGB Bodyguard, Cossack Arored Vest, ZPR Pulemut and the Drakon) If you haven't vaulted the Moscow collections, each of them offer a permanent addition to your skill.
*Prison Tattoos Collection initial vault = + 6 Defense
*Matryoshka Dolls Collection initial vault = +7 Energy
*Russian Leaders Collection initial vault = +4 Attack
*Vodka Drinks Collection initial vault = +4 Stamina
*Soviet Memorabilla Collection initial vault = +10 Health
*Faberge Egg Collection initial vault = +8 Energy
There are also Moscow achievements that offer a skill point for completion.
Q: What if I don't finish Moscow in time?
A: Your Moscow progress will be frozen.
Q: I like fighting in Moscow!
A: The Moscow version of fighting will also be closed for the foreseeable future.

Mafia Wars Underworld Showdown mini-Gift Event 411
We're down to the final two fighters for Underworld Showdown. Will you and your friends have what it takes to win it all? Which fighter do you think will win it all - the Cara "Carnage" Carnivalo or Derek "Iced" Van Meurs?
Pick a fighter to own (or both if you're ambitious). Collect 10 weapons for that fighter (Game Face weapon or Cold Snap weapon).
For every 10 weapons you collect for the winning fighter, you will receive a Showdown Trophy. You can collect up to 5 sets (1 set = 10 weapons) of weapons for each fighter for a maximum of 5 Showdown Trophys for the winning fighter.

There is no limit to the number of weapons you can collect up until 9pm PST, Monday, March 7th. After that time, all uncollected weapons become Mystery Bags. Weapons can be collected via free gifts, wall posts, or purchased for 1 Reward Point each. On Tuesday, March 8th, players will receive automatically receive a Showdown Trophy for every 10 weapons they own for the winning fighter (up to a maximum of 3 Showdown Trophys)
FAQs
Q: When does this event start?
A: This event starts late Tuesday night, March 1st. As with all gift events, the release will be gradual to ensure stability. (Not all players will have access initially)
Q: When does this event end? What happens to unclaimed weapons when the event is over?
A: Unclaimed weapons become regular mystery bags after 9pm PST, Monday, March 7th (before the Underworld Showdown voting closes). Showdown Trophies will be awarded automatically sometime on Tuesday, March 8th. (Dates are subject to update)
Q: How do I know which weapons I should collect or what the winning fighter will be?
A: The winning fighter in Underworld Showdown event will be the one the majority of the players vote for.
Q: Is it possible to collect sets of weapons for both fighters?
A: Yes. This would be one way to ensure you receive Showdown Trophys no matter the outcome of the game.
Q: Is it possible to collect more that 50 weapons for a single fighter?
A: No. weapon #51 (and above) for any given fighter will turn into a Mystery Bag.
Q: I have to collect 100 weapons in 5 days?! That's going to be a little hard!
A: This is by design. We purposely want players to commit to a fighter in order to have the best chance of collecting 5 full sets for the winning fighter. You will only have needed 50 weapons if you correctly predicted the winning fighter.
Q: If I only collected weapons from the fighter that lost, can I still receive Showdown Trophys?
A: Unfortunately, no.
Q: How can I follow the progress/status of the vote?
A: The voting is top secret.
